Cold Iron: Last Extraction
Cold Iron: Last Extraction is a third-person tactical shooter set in a rainy city at night. Before the fighting, select two guns and one special ability. In Survival, your task is to keep control of the plaza through attacks by armed and armoured soldiers until a helicopter reaches you. The view follows your character, so positioning, aiming and watching the surrounding street all matter.
Movement, aiming and abilities
Move with WASD and turn the view with the mouse. Left click shoots, right click aims down the sights, and holding E or the middle mouse button locks on. R reloads; the number keys 1 and 2 or the mouse wheel change weapons. Use Shift to run, or double tap and hold it to sprint. C crouches and V changes the shoulder used by the camera. Press X to activate your chosen ability.
Learn those inputs in Training before relying on them during a crowded fight. The publisher says the guided tutorial runs automatically on the first visit. Use cover while checking where the next threat is coming from, and practise switching between your two selected guns. A headshot is a useful aim to work towards, but moving the camera deliberately makes it easier to judge the shot than sweeping across several targets at once.
Choose a mode with a clear objective
Survival offers Easy, Normal and Hard settings for defending the plaza. Sniper Only instead equips a sniper rifle and a silenced pistol for opponents positioned on rooftops. Plant Bombs asks you to place charges at three locations while under fire, then move clear. Stealth centres on getting past patrols to the final bomb site. Read the selected mode's prompt so that you pursue its objective instead of treating every encounter as the same wave defence.
IRON coins provide weapon unlocks, and the available abilities are Slow Motion, Rage and Regenerate. There is also a daily challenge with a coin reward. Touch controls are documented for phones and tablets; the keyboard commands above describe the desktop setup. Check the loaded interface for the available touch buttons.
For a different viewpoint and enemy type, Robot Strike: FPS Shooter is a separate first-person game against robots. Its controls and missions belong to that game; return to Cold Iron for the third-person city setting and the mode choices described here.
